The back of my shoes is rubbing against my heel bone. What’s wrong?

I bought some Sperry Top Sider boat shoes and every time I wear them I get scraped up from all the rubbing against my heel bone on the back of the shoe. What’s wrong? These are the kind of shoes that guys don’t wear socks with by the way.
