How can I take the smell out of a pair of shoes?

I have a pair of Sperry boat shoes that absolutely reek. Their my favorite pair of shoes and I have a very important date to go on in 2 days. Is there anything I can do to take the smell out? Its so bad I can smell them while wearing them.
